Position Summary:

This position is responsible for providing field based leadership, coaching and overall management of the Hospital Sales Region. The Regional Director represents Daiichi Sankyo in all regional business applications and plays a vital role in fostering the Company’s culture, reputation and image. Is responsible for the sales performance of the region. As the leader of the region one must manage the activity of selling and promoting assigned products in a highly ethical and knowledgeable manner. The Regional Director is also responsible for the management and development of all regional personnel including District Managers and Sales Representatives.

Essential Functions:

Demonstrates the ability to achieve regional sales performance and accomplish goals by working with the regional sales team.

Builds, supervises, coaches, and leads an efficient, well-trained and effective regional sales team. Has total responsibility for regional recruiting, performance management and retention within the region.

Responsible for the development of District Managers and is able to coach the management team in the development of sales representatives within the region.

Creates and promotes a professional image of integrity in relationships with all internal an external customers.

Analyzes market data to evaluate sales trends within the region and regularly reviews performance against objectives.

Plans and conducts effective sales meetings within the region to establish regional sales strategy and direction.

Directs the execution of approved marketing plans and promotional campaigns and works closely with all co-promotion partners to ensure a cohesive, synergistic approach is implemented.

Actively involved with the development and coordination of tactical plans for managed care pull through within the geography.

Develops regional strategic and tactical sales plans by using all available resources.

Works in partnership with all internal departments of Daiichi Sankyo to ensure effective communication and implementation of company objectives.

Posses the ability to contribute on the national level by sharing ideas from their sales region at quarterly National Managers Meetings and by participating in company task forces.

Interprets Company policies in connection with questions that arise in the sales region and counsels with regional personnel.

Reviews monthly Sales A&P an Operational budget reports and institutes action where required.

Responsible for the annual performance evaluation process for the entire region.

Prepares performance evaluations and prepares salary plans with merit increases for
District Managers and Administrative Personnel in the sales region.

Works with the District Managers to prepare Annual Salary Plans for Sales Representatives in the region, and manages adherence to salary budget guidelines.

Maintains awareness of the development and potential advancement of employees within the region by developing regional talent plans to assist in the development of those individuals for such advancement.

Maintains complete records as requested by management and submits promptly all reports requested by management.

Works with the National Sales Director toward the achievement of EEO and diversity hiring goals.

Education and Experience Guidelines

BS / BA required, MBA a plus

Seven years of Pharmaceutical Industry experience required, including 3+ years hospital sales experience, and three years of pharmaceutical sales management experience preferably as District Manager or equivalent. Other pharmaceutical management experience and/or other department experience are a plus.

Must be able to travel to meetings and related sales events up to 60% of the time.
